AI Mode ads reach 10 countries, not the Gulf

Ads in AI Mode do not run in Saudi Arabia or anywhere in the Gulf today. Google expanded them to 10 new countries on October 28, 2026, all in English, and not one of them is an Arabic market. What touches your account is not that absence. It is that your existing campaigns may already be inside these ads in other countries you target.

Do ads in AI Mode run in Saudi Arabia?

They do not. Google states that ads within AI Overviews and AI Mode are available in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore. Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait are not on that list, and Google names no Arabic language support.

What Google announced on October 28, 2026 was the expansion of ads inside AI Mode to 10 countries: Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore. Google says it plans to add Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom in the final quarter of 2026. So 12 countries carry these ads today, and none of them is Arabic speaking.

AI Mode is the generated answer mode in Search. Google writes you an answer instead of handing you a list of results. Google says queries there are on average three times longer than traditional searches, and that click through rates on sponsored product cards inside it are already close to the organic ones.

Google also announced multiturn ads in the United States only. Those are ads that appear in follow up questions inside the same conversation, not only in the first query. The announcement limits them to the US market and gives no date for wider release.

What is different in a Saudi account?

The difference is that Saudi Arabia being off the list does not put your account outside the story. Google says existing Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns are automatically eligible to serve inside these answers, and that you need no new campaign and no separate budget. The test is the country you target, not the country you manage the account from.

A Gulf account that targets Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines or India with an English campaign is inside these ads today. This is common in stores that ship outside the Gulf, and in travel, real estate and services accounts that speak to audiences across South and Southeast Asia. Whoever grouped those countries with Saudi Arabia in one campaign is reading an average that mixes two different markets.

A second difference is that opting out is not available. Google says you cannot target AI Overviews or AI Mode on their own, and you cannot opt out of them separately from Search. There is no button you press to keep your ad out of there, and no separate report that shows what you spent inside them.

A third difference is that this is the same pattern repeating. The new surface opens in English first, and Arabic follows later. I wrote about it when Google added seven languages to AI Brief and Arabic was not among them. Preparing here comes before arriving.

When does this not work?

This asks nothing of you if you target the Gulf only in Arabic. Your campaigns do not appear in these surfaces at all, and Google asks you for no setting and no check. Reading the news here is preparation for what is coming, not work on your account today.

A second limit is that measurement is not available. Google publishes no breakdown of ad performance inside AI Mode in this announcement, and your account dashboard carries no report that separates it from the rest of Search. So I hold no evidence that it raises or lowers your cost per sale, and anyone who tells you otherwise is saying what they cannot source.

A third limit is that the click through number is Google's own, and it covers product cards inside AI Mode alone. Similar click rates say nothing about cost per sale. A click that matches another click in volume can still differ from it in value.

A fourth limit is that Google names no date for Saudi Arabia, the Gulf or Arabic. Do not build a quarterly plan on an arrival you expect, and do not delay work in hand while you wait for a surface with no announced date.

The test I run

Faced with a Gulf account that groups Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the Philippines into one search campaign, I do not pause the campaign and I do not change its ads. I split the three countries apart, and give each one its own campaign with the budget it was already spending.

The reason for splitting is that Google allows no exit from these surfaces, meaning I hold no button that keeps my ad out of the generated answer. Geographic separation is the tool I have left. With it I read each market on its own instead of reading one average.

Then I leave the campaigns for a full spend cycle, and compare what each sale cost me in each one. Whoever leaves Singapore and Saudi Arabia in one campaign sees a single reasonable number, and half of it may be a loss that the other half covers.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a new campaign to appear in AI Mode?

No. Google says existing Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns are automatically eligible to enter the auction inside these surfaces, and that advertisers need no new campaigns and no separate budgets. The condition is the country and the language, not the campaign type.

Can I stop my ads from showing inside AI Mode?

No. Google says you cannot target AI Overviews or AI Mode on their own, and you cannot opt out of them separately from Search. The lever you hold is the countries you target, not the surface you appear in.

When will ads in AI Mode reach Saudi Arabia?

Google has announced no date. The countries named for the final quarter of 2026 are Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom, and none of them is Arabic speaking. The accounts I manage are detailed on the work page.
