Snapchat Ads for Saudi e-commerce

The longest account I have run on Snapchat lasted six years and seven months without a break. It spent SAR 444,104 and returned SAR 1,861,422 across 7,564 purchases. The duration is not a line in a CV: an account that stays profitable through six consecutive Ramadan seasons is managed differently from one that wins a month.

What I do on Snapchat specifically

I audit the account setup before I audit the ad

I found a lighting store advertising from a personal account rather than a brand account, so it was priced at roughly double what it should have been. Upgrading the account cut swipe-up cost from 0.08 dollars to 0.03 and CPM from 2.11 to 1.34, before I touched targeting or creative. The cheapest improvement available is usually a setting nobody fixed on day one.

I connect the catalogue, because Snapchat sells from it

Adding the product catalogue had the single largest effect on platform sales in that lighting store. A campaign showing a product with its price sells more than a handsome design asking people to visit the store.

I read the account by season, not by month

Perfume buying in Saudi Arabia is seasonal, and the monthly average hides erosion. So at the start of every season I ask three questions: what changed, what stopped working, and where the audience moved. That is what kept the account above breakeven for six years.

I name campaigns to a fixed system from day one

Every campaign carries type, market and date in its name. After six years and more than thirty campaigns, that alone is what keeps the account readable instead of an archive nobody can parse.

I stop what is not working at a limit set in advance

A Gulf expansion campaign was stopped after 173 dollars and 347,161 impressions produced no purchase at all. A test left running "to have enough time" burns the budget of three tests that could have run in its place.

Accounts I have run on Snapchat

When Snapchat does not fit

These are two accounts where Snapchat failed for me. I publish them with their numbers because anyone showing unbroken success has been selecting.

When the account carries a pricing penalty from before

I took over a perfume chain whose account Snapchat had classified at a high cost tier because of old campaigns burning around 100 dollars a day. I ran at a quarter of the budget and the account did not leave that tier: 195 dollars produced two sales worth 119 dollars. I stopped the platform and moved its budget to Google, which returned 7.6 against 1.3 on Snapchat in the same account.

When the audience is not on the platform at all

Another store where I tested Snapchat with SAR 365. It produced 233 visits and 3 add-to-carts, so I stopped the test at its limit. The platform is not wrong in itself, but this store’s audience was not on it.

Questions asked before running Snapchat

What budget do I need to start on Snapchat Ads?
The figure follows the state of the account, not a general rule. A clean account with a connected catalogue starts with a test capped in time and spend, while an account carrying a poor spending history needs its cost tier addressed first, otherwise you are paying for a high price rather than an audience. That is why I read the account before I suggest a number.
My Snapchat account is personal. Does that matter?
It matters a great deal. A personal account does not open the catalogue, filters or follower tracking, and it is priced higher. In one lighting store I ran, the upgrade alone cut swipe-up cost to less than half before any change to the ad.
Does Snapchat work for every store?
No. I stopped it in two documented accounts higher on this page: one for a prior pricing penalty and one because its audience was not on the platform. Sometimes the most useful thing I can tell you is that your budget works better somewhere else.
How long before I can judge the result?
Two weeks at an agreed spend cap is enough to tell whether the platform gives a signal at all. Judging profitability takes a full season, because Snapchat in Saudi Arabia shifts in price and audience behaviour between Ramadan, summer and the school seasons.

Send me your store and ad account

I will open the account and tell you what I see: whether the problem is the platform, the setup or the audience. And if your budget works better somewhere else, I will say so.
