E-commerce perfume store

A perfume store built on repeat purchase and seasonality. The job was not to win one month, but to keep the account above breakeven season after season.

I moved the account from campaign operation to seasonal account reading: fixed naming, layered funnel work, and period-by-period review instead of one average hiding erosion.

What was happening

I took over a perfume store that depended on a single ad platform. Its audience, its prices and the algorithm all shift every season, so what works in Ramadan does not work in summer. The task was to keep the account profitable for six straight years, not to win one month.

What did not add up

In the first two years I noticed that an account left on what it is used to erodes slowly. So at the start of every season I began asking three questions: what changed, what has stopped working, and where has the audience moved.

The evidence

Snapchat Ads · 29 December 2019 to 13 August 2026
Snapchat Ads dashboard showing a 4.19 return on ad spend across 7,564 purchases over six years and seven months
The account’s entire life in one frame: $496,379.17 in revenue on $118,427.62 of spend, a 4.19 return across 7,564 purchases and 344,557 clicks. The frame is in dollars; the table above is in riyals at the fixed 3.75 rate.
Snapchat Ads · 12 March 2025 to 12 March 2026
Snapchat Ads dashboard showing a 5.66 return from March 2025 to March 2026, above the average for the full period
The twelve months from March 2025 to March 2026: a 5.66 return across 1,092 purchases, against 4.19 for the whole period. The decline at the right edge of the chart matches falling spend as the engagement ended rather than falling efficiency, which the paid impressions line dropping alongside it confirms.

What this means for a similar account

If your account is seasonal, the answer is not a new ad idea every month. It is a reading system that spots when the audience, price, or algorithm has changed.

Any account can give you one excellent month. Very few give you six years above breakeven. The clearest sign this was not luck is that the twelve months to March 2026 returned 5.66 against 4.19 for the whole period, which means the account improved with time instead of eroding.
